Bruce To Announce Retirement As A Ram
By Justin Stine
No rookie profiles today, as The Reverend stole the news with the report that he has been “traded” to the Rams from San Fran in order to announce his retirement on Wednesday as a member of the team he played all but two of his 16 season with. If you are a Rams fan, you know Isaac Bruce. The man holds the franchise record for receptions, receiving touchdowns, and receiving yards, and he made one of the biggest catches in franchise history during the team’s Super Bowl win over the Titans. Bruce ranks fifth in the NFL with 1,024 career receptions, and he ranks second in the NFL with 15,208 career receiving yards. His 91 career receiving touchdowns rank ninth in the league.
The Rams and Bruce will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 12:30 to announce the retirement, and the receiver will be holding a live chat on stlouisrams.com at 2:30 that same day, so if anyone has a question for him, get on there and ask. It will be great to see him with our organization again, as he is a class act and one of the greatest Rams of all time.
In other news, it looks like talks are heating up with free agent OJ Atogwe, as the two sides have reportedly settled on four years. They are still talking money, but he has to be happy with the length if the reports are true. Let me just say that I was wrong about this whole situation. I said the Rams couldn’t let him hit the market, but obviously they knew more than I did about the interest from other teams. It is starting to look like he might be back for significantly less that the tender would have paid him. Kudos to the front office, that is of course assuming the deal gets done.
