Vobora Likely Starting On Sunday

We haven’t got a full confirmation just yet, but after today’s practice it looks like David Vobora will take over as the strong-side backer this week when the Rams take on the Saints. This is pretty much what I expected, and honestly I like Vobora. The guy is a hard worker, and he doesn’t take plays off. I don’t think he’s as talented as Na’il Diggs (who will have surgery on Friday for his torn pec), but he knows the defense and he is more than serviceable at the position. As far as the weak side goes, it looks like Chris Chamberlain will get the first opportunity. David Nixon was promoted from the practice squad to take Diggs’ place on the roster, and he did some work on the strong side today at practice, although I expect he will be special teams only this weekend unless we suffer more injuries at the position. Obviously this situation isn’t ideal, but I think the guys we have are good enough to step in and get the job done.

Injury Report: As far as the health of the rest of the team goes, Sam Bradford was full-go at practice today with his sore ankle, and he will be just fine for Sunday. Ron Bartell and OJ Atogwe didn’t practice today, but Atogwe said he will be fine for Sunday with his shoulder injury. As far as Bartell goes, we probably won’t know about him until closer to the end of the week. Kenneth Darby sat out today as well with an injury to his ribs, and I’ll update his condition when I know more. In other roster news, the team signed LB Maurice Simpkins to the practice squad to take Nixon’s place.
