Roster Moves on the Horizon?

According to some sources – Jason La Canfora – the Rams are about $800,000 above the salary cap.  In perspective, it is understandable as to why the Rams are over the cap; the team did sign 12 free agents.  The question is, what are they going to do to get back under?  The obvious answer is that they will release players, but who?

Linebacker is a spot that will have to sort out some people.  With the additions of Brady Popinga to the strongside position, some wonder if incumbent Na’il Diggs’ time is up.  Bryan Kehl is another LB  that I expect to be released, especially with last week’s acquisition of Ben Leber.  Rookie Jabara Williams can also be attributed to Kehl’s eventual release.  Both play the weakside spot.

Another obvious position to look at is wide receiver.  The position is jam-packed with players – I counted 12 listed on the NFL website.  It’s pretty safe to say the undrafted rookies have slim chances to make the roster.  Who else can be considered a goner? Dominique Curry has a broken hand, so he can be gone.  Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo said no one has really distinguished themselves out of the lot.  This will come down to who shows the most play making ability during games.

These to positions are the most obvious.  The D-line has an influx of players there.  Camp bodies are also expected to be released, so this situation can be settled.
