Greg Zuerlein Rakes In The Awards After Week 4 Against Seattle Seahawks

According to multiple sources, including ESPN’s NFC West blogger Mike Sando, Greg Zuerlein has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for last week’s performance against the Seahawks.

By now, St. Louis writers have rammed it into your heads about Zuerlein’s stats, so Ramblin’ Fan won’t do it in this update, but still, you have to marvel at what the 6th rounder has done this season. On top of the weekly honors, ESPN’s Daniel Jeremiah has named Zuerlein one of his five “sensational rookies” in his NFL quarterly report, which is currently gracing the front page of NFL.com.  This is what Jeremiah had to say about Zuerlein,

"It sounds strange to say that a team hit the jackpot with the selection of a kicker, but that is exactly what Jeff FIsher did in the sixth round of April’s draft. Zuerlein has been the Rams’ most valuable player through the first four games. He is a perfect 12 of 12 on field goal attempts, including a long of 60 yards."

He has undoubtedly become one of the most respected, and beloved, players in the St. Louis Rams roster, both by the fans and his peers in the locker room. Zuerlein should continue his monster rookie season, and will likely re-write the record book for kickers by the end of his career. However, it is not typical that a kicker, especially a rookie kicker, gets the respect and acknowledgment that they deserve. Cheer to Zuerlein.

Make sure to tune into Thursday Night Football and cheer on your St. Louis Rams as they faceoff against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.
