Rams Could Change Uniform
St. Louis Rams team executive Kevin Demoff recentlly said that a possible uniform change could happen and it could happen in the next five years. Ever since the Rams switched from the blue/gold yellow uniforms in 2000 to the navy blue and gold uniforms, something just hasnt seemed right. The reception to the blue and gold uniforms has not gone over well and fans have been wanting to switch back since the change was made.
Demoff said in the interview that he’s been thinking about making some sort of change for some time and what really prompted him was the fan passion with the topic,”Like everything else, you’re trying to elicit emotion from your fans, and our uniform colors seem to do that on a daily basis. There’s not a day that goes by that there’s not a uniform question or comment on the internet.” Rams fans, it looks like your wish may have just came true.
The uniform change will come sooner rather than later and it seems as if the change is in fact going to happen. Demoff said that he would be actually be surprised if it didnt happen.”I’d be surprised if we didnt. I think at some time in the next five years, you’ll see a complete uniform change, throwback and current uniform.
The Rams have a few options they could go with for the uniform change. They could either go something completely different such as a solid gold or yellow jersey with blue numbers, go back to some variation of the blue and yellow which could be the most likely scenario, or go way back to the old blue and white uniforms which could most likely become the new throwbacks.
Recently on nfl.com Dave Dameshek did a march madness style bracket in which the greatest uniforms in NFL history faced off. The Rams current jersey received the 16th seed in the NFC Uniforms Bracket and lost in the first round to the top seeded San Francisco 49ers. Unlucky draw, or just bad uniform? In the NFC Throwbacks Bracket the 1973-1980 Rams uniform received the fourth seed and made it all the way to the elite eight, beating the 1980-1999 New York Giants, 1965-1968 Washington Redskins, 1960-1963 Philadelphia Eagles, and then finally somehow got upset by the fifteenth seeded 2012 Carolina Panthers alternates which eventually went on to take the title.
Last season the Rams wore the blue and yellow 1999 throwbacks against the 49ers which turned out to be one of the biggest wins last season for the Rams. This season, the Rams will where the same throwbacks against the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a few years it looks like the Rams could make a permanent switch.
Time to get excited Rams fans, the Rams could finally make the switch. The uniform switch could signify a new regime and better, winning ways as the Rams had some of the worst seasons in their history with the Blue and Golds and Fisher has brought promise to the franchise, the switch could also signify a location switch as the Rams are still dealing with the stadium issue, or the switch may just simply be for the heck of it. Whatever the reason may be, Rams fans wont be disappointed.
