The next player that experienced a sophomore slump, was cornerback Janoris Jenkins. With the absence of Cortaland Finnegan and given his performance last year, Jenkins was given the number one role and struggled in it.

Jenkins did have a few decent games, but they were far and few between. Part of Jenkins’ struggles could have been because the Rams didn’t have a legitimate safety in the secondary for the majority of the season, putting a lot of pressure on Jenkins.

The other part of it could have been the coverage and the scheme that the Rams were playing that didn’t utilize Jenkins’ strengths. The Rams were giving receivers at times 10+ yard cushions at the line of scrimmage, you don’t do that when you have a talent like Janoris Jenkins.
