2013: The Sophomore Slumps

Daryl Richardson

The sophomore slump of running back Daryl Richardson may be overlooked with the emergence of Zac Stacy, but there is no denying that the offense struggled early in the season when the Rams couldn’t run the ball.

There is also no denying that it would have been nice if Richardson would have been available to take some of the off of Zac Stacy.

Coming into the season, Richardson was supposed to be the guy that replaced Steven Jackson. Richardson won the competition in camp, but when it came to the regular season he struggled mightily. Richardson didn’t see much action in the second half of the season as he dealt with an “injury”.

It is uncertain if Richardson will even be on the team going into next season. With as high of expectations as Richardson had before 2013, it would be disappointing and shocking if he wasn’t.

The starting j0b will clearly go to Stacy next season, but Richardson could win a spot on the team and be that change of pace, third down back like everyone said that he was.
