The Rams fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-28 last Sunday. Entering their next game against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, the Rams sit at 1-3. Save for the Minnesota game, the young Rams squad has been competitive in every game so far. Here is Ramblin’ Fan’s breakdown of the 2014 rookie class after week five of the regular season:

Greg Robinson: EVEN

Robinson was benched again in favor of G Rodger Saffold. The offensive line’s pass protection wasn’t consistent against Philadelphia but the number two overall pick remains on the sidelines.

Aaron Donald: Stock UP

Donald played well in limited rotational snaps on the defensive line. He generated consistent pressure in the face of QB Nick Foles, but he failed to notch a sack. Donald has been as good as advertised thus far. The rookie from Pittsburgh has been as stout against the run as he has been against the pass.

Lamarcus Joyner: EVEN

Joyner was all over the field as usual as he continues to play in the nickel corner spot. He finished with four tackles and one pass defensed. He did get confused on one instance in coverage which lead to a score by WR Jeremy Maclin in the third quarter.

Tre Mason: EVEN

Inactive.

Mo Alexander: EVEN

Inactive.

E.J. Gaines: Stock UP

Gaines played on the outside again and recorded his first career interception. He ran step for step with WR Jeremy Maclin on a deep streak route and cradled the ball into his hands. Gaines also hand two passes defensed and a fumble recovery. Gaines could be the gem of this year’s Rams draft class.

Trey Watts: EVEN

Watts ran twice for six yards against the Eagles. He is still firmly behind RB’s Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham. Watts could see more time if head coach Jeff Fisher wants to be cautious about Stacy’s injured calf.

Ethan Westbrooks: EVEN

Westbrooks worked in the defensive line rotation again. He registered two tackles. It will be interesting to see how his role changes once DE Chris Long returns to the lineup.

Alex Bayer: Stock UP

Bayer was active last week and saw work on special teams. He did not register any statistics.

Marcus Roberson: EVEN

Once again Roberson saw time on the special teams unit.
