Dear Santa,
While I know the St. Louis Rams are more than likely on the naughty list after breaking out in a fight against the New York Giants, if you do happen to forgive them and put them back on the nice list here are a few things that the St. Louis Rams would like you to put under their tree this holiday season.
1. A Healthy 2015 for Sam Bradford
You have to feel bad for Sam Bradford. After rehabbing and working hard last season to get back to play this year, he tore his ACL in the same knee once he did get back. Bradford may be the nicest guy on the team, but he is also the most unlucky when it comes to injuries.
While some may disagree, in order for the Rams to take the next step, they are going to need Sam Bradford. If the Rams draft a rookie and start him from game one, Rams fans better be content with yet another 7-9 season, and hope that they develop into something great. If they go out and get a veteran like Brian Hoyer or Jay Cutler, what future do they really have on the team?
For the Rams to take the next step they are going to have to have Sam Bradford. The Rams haven’t had a winning season since 2003 and haven’t made the playoffs since 2004. Bradford is the guy that can take this team to the playoffs or farther. The time to win is now. Bradford finally has a talented group of guys around who are ready to win.
2. A New Offensive Coordinator
While Brian Schottenheimer has gotten more creative with his playmakers, unfortunately Im afraid thats where the creativity is going to end. The Rams have lost games over the last three years because Schottenheimer is inconsistent with his game plans and fails to use the guys that he has.
If we could get an offensive coordinator who can utilize Tavon Austin in more ways than just dives and end arounds that would be fantastic. The offense has been a weak spot of this team over the last three years and Schottenheimer is a big part of that.
3. Some New Offensive Lineman
The Rams have gotten better on the offensive line, but they still get beat up front way too much. Rookie Greg Robinson has shown promise, Rodger Saffold is solid, and Joe Barksdale can get the job done However, when it comes to Scott Wells and Davin Joseph is a completely different story.
Scott Wells hasn’t been the player that many expected coming over from Green Bay. When he’s not hurt he has been ineffective, The Rams need to get younger and upgrade at center. Jake Long‘s Pro Bowl days are long gone, and I don’t even want to get started on Davin Joseph, but if you wouldnt mind “accidentally” taking him back to the North Pole with you, nobody would say anything.
4. Keep The Rams In St. Louis
All the rumors about the Rams moving to Los Angeles are quite ridiculous. The talks have been out on hold this season, but it’s only a matter of time before the talks heat up again. St. Louis fans have been told that they cannot support an NFL franchise and that it isn’t a football town. Well Santa, if you were awful on Christmas for ten years, people probably wouldnt give you any milk and cookies would they?
The Rams have won 20 games in the past two years which is more than they won in the previous five years combined. This team is moving in the right direction and is on the upswing. The fans of St. Louis deserve to witness the turnaround.
5. Beat Seattle
While it would hurt the Rams’ draft position by beating Seattle and earning the season sweep, something the Rams haven’t done since 2004, I don’t think anybody would complain if it happened. Seattle has the number one seed in the NFC on the line and if the Rams spoil that in their own house, that would be pretty special.
Sincerely,
Rams Fans
