St. Louis Rams Building Possible Stadium In L.A.

While it was confirmed by the NFL at the conclusion of the season that no team would be moving to Los Angeles after this season, it looks like the Rams could be headed to California as early as 2016.

According to ESPN, a year after purchasing 60 acres of land in Inglewood adjacent to the Forum and Hollywood Park, Rams owner Stan Kroenke has teamed up with the owners of the Hollywood Park site to build an NFL stadium.

The ESPN report said, developers of the project told the Times that no tax dollars would be used for the construction project, including the stadium, which could be completed by 2018.

Until the new stadium is completed, the LA Times reported that they would likely play in the L.A. Coliseum or possibly the in the Rose Bowl as possible venues.

The Rams are expected to convert their lease at the Edward Jones Dome to a year-to-year agreement later this month  with no current plans to build a new stadium in the gateway city.

Earlier this year, commissioner Rodger Goodell said that no team would be moving to Los Angeles in 2015, but said nothing about 2016.

The St. Louis Rams have been among three teams being considered for Los Angeles along with the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers. However, the news that Rams owner Stan Kroenke is building a stadium in L.A. seems like the move very well could happen for the Rams.

This process is still far from being complete. If the Rams are looking to move to Los Angeles in 2016, they also have to apply for relocation between January first and February 15th of next year as well as get the owners to approve it.
