For Rams Nation, yesterday was about as sad an outcome as we could have hoped for during Conference Championship Weekend. Not only did the Seattle Seahawks pull off an impossible comeback in the waning minutes over the Green Bay Packers, but the New England Patriots also marched their way into the “big dance.”
Now, the Super Bowl is the ultimate lose-lose, with one option being the Rams division rivals taking home the Lombradi for the second-consecutive year, and the other being the Skygate-marred Patriots that cheated Marshall Faulk and the Greatest Show on Turf out of their second championship.

However, the upcoming Super Bowl is likely the only negative event on the Rams upcoming offseason schedule. Soon, Aaron Donald and Robert Quinn will take the field sporting the golden horns in the 2015 Pro Bowl. Moreover, Aaron Donald will likely be announced as the “official” Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press. Then after the confetti has fallen in Arizona, the league will be focused on the upcoming free agency period. That’s where this story begins.
For the first year in a long while, the St. Louis Rams are in a solid position heading into free agency. To start, there are only a handful of “key” unrestricted free agents that need to be re-signed, none of which should break the bank. Secondly, there are a bevy of high contract players that will likely be released, potentially freeing up $20 million or more in cap space. Lastly, there are only a few positions, if any at all, that the Rams absolutely must address during free agency. Taking that into consideration, what are the Rams “top needs” in free agency and who should be their top targets?
