For Rams fans worried about the offensive line and the lack of activity in free agency – there is more cause for concern. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport tweeted the following on Tuesday:
Many fans (myself included) were hopeful that Joe Barksdale and Kenny Britt were top of the list of names Jeff Fisher would be keen to bring back as a priority in the early days of free agency. While wide receiver Britt was re-signed to a two year deal last month, Barksdale remained a free agent. The 2011 3rd round draft selection was one of the high points in an otherwise poor offensive line for St Louis in 2014.
Despite the cap space the Rams have opened up with Jake Long, Scott Wells and of course Sam Bradford no longer on the roster, there has still been an unfortunate failure to lure any of the top free agent offensive linemen to St Louis with lucrative contracts. With former Oakland Raiders center Stefen Wisniewski looking less of a possibility with multiple visits elsewhere, it has become even more of a priority that the Rams bring back Barksdale to provide stability to the right side of the line. If Barksdale’s visit to Tennessee does result in him signing for Jeff Fisher’s former team, it surely makes it a certainty that the Rams will draft an offensive lineman with the 10th overall draft pick.
