2015 St. Louis Rams: Game By Game Predictions

facebooktwitterreddit

The 2015 NFL Schedule came out earlier this week and predicting the St. Louis Rams’ record this far out pretty much impossible with all the unanswered question marks. However, this is still a team that finally has their starting quarterback and a defense that is ready to take that next step. Here’s my win-loss predictions for all 16 games.

Week 1 vs Seattle

While this is in St. Louis and the Rams have won the last few matchups in the Dome against their division rival, this game isn’t too promising. The Rams have struggled early on in the season the last couple of year meanwhile the Seahawks will be looking to get an early jump in the division.

Loss 0-1

Week 2 @Washington

The St. Louis Rams shut out Washington last season at Fed Ex field, and while I dont think there will be a different result, I do think it will be a lot closer. Fisher and Rams have had success against the Redskins in the past and it continues in 2015.

Win 1-1

Week 3 vs Pittsburgh

The Steelers have lost quite a few big pieces this offseason as well as Le’Veon Bell who will be suspended for the first four games. The Steelers do have some explosive wide receivers, but if the Rams can contain them and not get beat by the big play, the should come out on top here.

Win 2-1

Week 4 @Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals swept the Rams last season. There is no doubt that Fisher wants no part of that again, but unless the Rams can build there offensive line they will get beat by Arizona the same way they have the last two years. This is a defensive battle, but the Cardinals come out on top

Loss 2-2

Week 5 @Green Bay

It’s Green Bay, it’s at Green Bay, and there’s this guy named Aaron Rodgers. Need I go on? The Rams might hang in this game for the first half, but Green Bay pulls away and wins by multiple scores. The Rams simply aren’t on the Packers level yet.

Loss 2-3

Week 6 Bye

If the Rams can go into the bye week at 2-3, that would be considered a success. 1-4 might be more realistic with the second win being contingent on the Steelers game. The Rams have escaped the daunting part of the schedule, now they’ll get to regroup and look to make a playoff run.

Week 7 vs Cleveland

The Rams have Cleveland to thank for the outcome of their season last year as it was in the preseason game against the Browns in which Sam Bradford went down and the Rams’ hopes were lost. Revenge game, being a better team, whatever the reasoning, the Rams should get the win at home here. It might be close, but the Rams should come out on top.

Win 3-3

Week 8 vs San Francisco

The 49ers have made drastic changes this offseason which doesn’t bode well going into 2015. The Rams played the 49ers tough last year and I believe they will do so once again this season. This is a home game and against what I believe will be a struggling 49ers squad, the Rams come out on top.

Win 4-3

Week 9 @Minnesota

The Rams under Jeff Fisher have not had success against Minnesota. We’ll see if the Vikings have Adrian Peterson, but with Bridgewater at quarterback and Mike Zimmer as coach, the Vikings are actually an underrated squad with a good defense. The Rams have had their letdowns in the past under Fisher and I believe we see one here.

Loss 4-4

Week 10 vs Chicago

Chris Long vs Kyle Long round 2. The Rams will go up against the Chicago Bears and the Rams are clearly the better squad even with John Fox as their head coach. The Bears are going to be in a rebuilding year and the Rams come out with a win.

Win 5-4

Week 11 @Baltimore

These next two games are against two AFC North opponents on the road and I do believe this is a crucial point in the Rams’ schedule. If they can get two big wins on the road they will have a good chance down the stretch to make the postseason, if not, then its going to be difficult. I however, see the Rams splitting starting with a loss here.

Loss 5-5

Week 12 @Cincinnati

I did say the Rams would split. The Bengals are a solid team and will have a good record. However, if the Rams can dominate the line of scrimmage and get Andy Dalton riled up and not let him get comfortable, they can certainly steal a win.

Win 6-5

Week 13 vs Arizona

The Rams dont get swept by the Cardinals for a second straight season. It’s close, but the Rams have a starting quarterback late in the season to take them to victory. It will be a dogfight, but the Rams win in close fashion.

Win 7-5

Week 14 vs Detroit

This is going to be a crucial game that the Rams are going to have to win if they want to make the postseason. However, even with the holes that the Lions have on defense, under Jim Caldwell, the Lions are more disciplined and should have knocked out the Cowboys last year in the playoffs. I dont think the Rams get it done at home.

Loss 7-6

Week 15 vs Tampa Bay

This will be the St. Louis Rams’ only primetime game of the season. Quite the matchup right? The Rams beat the Bucs last season on the road with Austin Davis and with Nick Foles, the Rams get the job done once again.

Win 8-6

Week 16 @Seattle

This is at Seattle late in the season. There is no way the Seahawks will get upset here. They will be ready for a Rams team looking to make a late push. Rams lose putting them out of the playoff race.

Loss 8-7

Week 17 @San Francisco

The Rams won in San Francisco a season ago in dramatic fashion. The 49ers will be looking to put an end to a disastrous season. The Rams win giving them their first winning record since 2004.

Win 9-7

The Rams certainly have the schedule that can get them into the playoffs, however, with Fisher as the head coach, it’s hard to see this team coming out with more than nine wins. The games that could flip the season are against Minnesota, Detroit, and Baltimore. If the Rams can win one or two of those, they will have  chance at the postseason, but until the rebuild their offensive line I dont see them getting above mediocrity.
