With the start of the 2015 NFL regular season about to kick up in a couple of months, this also means that the world of fantasy football will also return once again. More NFL fans enjoy playing this game than not, so it is always good to get an early scoop on who you should draft to your fantasy roster.
When it comes to the St. Louis Rams, this isn’t a team loaded with good fantasy players, due to the fact that their top players come on the defensive side of the ball. And if you didn’t already know, you do not select individual players on defense, you select the entire defense as one player.
According to senior fantasy writer for CBS Sports, Jamey Eisonberg, the top ranked Rams player for the 2015 fantasy football season is that of 2015 first round pick, Todd Gurley. Eisonberg has Gurley ranked as the 48th best player in fantasy sports and does not have another Ram slotted until pick number 106 in which he ranked Gurley’s counterpart, Tre Mason.
This is good news however for Rams fans in the fact that Gurley expects to be ready to go for training camp in just a few short weeks. And if all goes to plan, would be ready to lace up his cleats for the Rams and start week one against the Seattle Seahawks. If that is in fact the case, then Gurley could be a steal depending on how many people play in your league.
But, who is worth taking from the Rams outside of the two running backs? The Rams defense is worthy of a pickup, but not a pick. I wouldn’t waste a draft pick on the Rams defense, but I would definitely pick their defense up when my starting one is on a BYE.
After that, well I wouldn’t take anyone right away. But, there will most likely be someone id pick up in free agency a few weeks into the season. Players to keep a close eye on will be quarterback Nick Foles, wide receiver Brain Quick, Kenny Britt and Tavon Austin. All four of these players would be worthy of a start when one of your regular starters is on BYE, but their track record doesn’t scream “starter.”
Just because a team doesn’t have a roster loaded with “fantasy” talent, doesn’t mean the roster isn’t good. But, if i’m drafting a roster, their are only two players I would draft off the Rams team, Gurley and Mason.
Who would you draft?
