St. Louis Rams continue roller-coaster season in Week 6 Power Rankings
With another loss in Week 5, the St. Louis Rams have fallen to 2-3 on the season and head into the bye week with a lot on their minds. Poor offensive line play, injuries, dropped passes and penalties have plagued the 2015 season leaving the Rams with very little to show. However, two solid wins in the division against Seattle and Arizona have kept optimism alive, but the team’s postseason fate will be decided in the upcoming weeks.

Rookie running back Todd Gurley has announced his arrival to the NFL in a big way. Gurley has posted career highs in carries and yards in two consecutive games for a total of 305 rushing yards in two weeks. Gurley has excelled behind a very suspect offensive line. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for quarterback Nick Foles. Foles has tossed four interceptions and countless incompletions in the same span. Kudos for the quality wins over Seattle and Arizona. Disappointment riddles the three losses to Washington, Pittsburgh and Green Bay. The Rams were in each and every game and need to demand more from quarterback Nick Foles in crucial situations. Part Foles and part wide receivers, it doesn’t matter how you slice up the blame, better performance is needed all around on offense. (Division Rivals: Seattle 12, Arizona 7, San Francisco 28)

Solid outings from this top-tier defense have been wasted by a sub-par offense. It’s obvious the run game has finally found the next gear with Todd Gurley eclipsing 300-yards in two weeks, but Nick Foles and company have failed to provide any support. Foles was brought in to provide consistency, something the Rams lacked at the quarterback position for years. He has hasn’t lived up to expectations. The St. Louis Rams couldn’t have asked for a better time to take a little time off and come upon their bye week. The growing trend here is the same as it has been in years past. The Rams get up for big games and let others slip through their hands. Todd Gurley is a great story, but it’s too much to ask of the young back to carry this offense for another 10 weeks. Head coach Jeff Fisher needs to get things going sooner, rather than later. (Division Rivals: Seattle 11, Arizona 6, San Francisco 27)

That’s right. You read that correctly. Yahoo have the Rams rising in their Power Rankings. It would appear Frank Schwab is an optimist and has shown a little faith in the “what if,” and “could’ve been.” Good for you Frank, but this St. Louis fan has seen this story unfold the same way all too often. The Rams come back from the bye week to host the Cleveland Browns. Week 7 will be the beginning of the postseason run that Fisher will need to save his job.
