5. DE Jack Youngblood 1980

It’s amazing to see players not try in the all-star game today. You would think playing against the league’s best would make the players want to play better, that is not the case in today’s game. However, back in 1980 Los Angeles Rams’ Jack Youngblood played in the PRO BOWL with a BROKEN LEG.(!!!)

Youngblood played the entire 1979 playoffs and Super Bowl with a fractured left fibula which is one of the many feats for which Youngblood is best known for. In fact, playing with the fractured leg was noted by Sports Illustrated in their Top 10 list of athletes playing in pain. Historically, playing those games with a broken leg, may be one of the gutsiest performances of all time.

Statistically speaking, Youngblood didnt have a great Pro Bowl, but the fact that he went to the game with a broken leg is an accomplishment in itself, especially given that players today dont go to the game when they have a sore left pinky.
