A quarterback to the Los Angeles Rams has become quite a theme this offseason. Between Johnny Manziel, Peyton Manning, and what is sure to be others, the Rams quarterback rumors are a hot topic.

On Tuesday, ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay released his second mock draft and first since the draft order took more of a clear shape. When it comes to NFL mock drafts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. are two names that many people really pay attention to. These are two people with a lot of NFL draft experience and are considered top “experts”.

In his first mock draft, McShay sent Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwellto the Rams with the 10th overall pick. That was before the season ended and the Rams won enough games to fall to the 15th overall pick.

Well, with the 15th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select…Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis. Here’s what McShay had to say,

"“This is a tough call. The Rams have an obvious need at quarterback, but is Lynch their long-term answer? While I still have more work to do on him, Lynch does have a lot of the tools you look for in future NFL starters — size, arm strength, mobility and the ability to create when the initial play breaks down. Two concerns I have early in the pre-draft process: his inconsistent decision-making and accuracy.”"

McShay isn’t the first one to mock Lynch to the Rams. NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah as well as ESPN’s Mel Kiper also have Lynch going to Los Angeles. This pick makes a lot of sense. As McShay says, the Rams have a huge need at quarterback and need that long-term answer.

Lynch has the tools when it comes to size and arm strength, but there is some developing to be done. With Case Keenum being named the starter next year, coming to Los Angeles might be a good situation for Lynch so that he can sit back and learn the game for a quarter of the season or half the season.

There’s still a lot of time between now and the draft, but for the time being, it looks like Lynch to the Rams is the popular choice.
