Top Five James Laurinaitis Rams Moments
5. Going From Columbus To St. Louis
Drafted 35th overall in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, nobody could have expected that Laurinaitis would go down as one of the greatest players in franchise history. He was the second linebacker selected behind Houston Texans’ Brian Cushing.
While a solid player, Laurinaitis has almost 270 more tackles than Cushing and has never missed a game, something Cushing hasn’t done. The former Rams linebacker also has more interceptions as well as sacks.
Laurinaitis earned the starting middle linebacker position at the beginning of the season and led the Rams in tackles. He was also named the team’s rookie of the year. From 2007-2009, the Rams didnt have very many good draft picks, let alone second round draft picks, but without a doubt, they got it right when they selected the linebacker out of THE Ohio State University. O-H! I-O!
