Nick Wagoner reports that the Los Angeles Rams are tagging CB Trumaine Jonson, source said.
It’s been a quiet offseason for the Los Angeles Rams but today they have returned at least one of their star cornerbacks for next season. Today was the last day to place a franchise tag on a player, and they may have done it on the correct cornerback.
The Rams are placing non-exclusive franchise tag on Johnson per source. Which means that his one-year Franchise price is $13,952,000. The difference with the non-exclusive is that it means other teams can negotiate but if he signs offer sheet and Rams don’t match, they get 2 1st rounders. By the looks of it, Trumaine Johnson will be staying in Los Angeles, or the Rams will be getting some 1st rounders.
It’s also very intersting that the Rams have not used their franchise tag since 2009 with Safety Oshiomogho Atogwe. Clearly the Rams want to keep Johnson as he could be apart of the Future in Los Angeles.
In 4 seasons Trumaine Johnson has 15 Int, 4th most in NFL in that time and most among players taken in 2012 draft. What could this mean for other free agent corner back Janoris Jenkins? He might find out that it’s a lot tougher than he thinks. Welcome back Trumaine Johnson to the Rams
