With the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft the Los Angeles Rams selected quarterback Jared Goff out of California. Unlike some years, Goff didnt know he was the pick until the Rams finally called him to let him know. Jeff Fisher and Les Snead alluded that would be the case last week saying that moment of getting called by your new team is one of the greatest moments in their lives, and they didnt want to ruin that.
According to Goff, the Rams kept their promise and actually did wait until they were on the clock to let him know that he was the pick. The new Rams quarterback stopped by Sirius XM Radio after he was selected and said,
“I had a pretty good idea, but at the same time I had no formal indication until they called me.”
Goff continued in the interview with Jim Miller and Gil Brandt saying that he was excited to be playing in California and LA and being apart of the Rams. He also said that it isn’t up to him to be the starter, if he starts, he starts, if he doesn’t, he’ll be a good teammate until he does. Goff said that he has high expectations and he believes the organization has high expectations.
