After the Los Angeles Rams draft a quarterback tonight, they will have four quarterbacks on the roster. Most teams carry two or three meaning that there will be an odd man out in Los Angeles. With the Rams having drafted Sean Mannion last year and with the way Keenum played at the end of last season, Nick Foles is expected to be the odd man out.
According to ESPN Rams Insider, Nick Wagoner, Foles is expected to be the player to leave. The Rams are still hoping to trade Foles, although his value isn’t expected to be high. Wagoner says that a league source has told him that four to five teams have inquired about Foles, but are waiting to see how the draft plays out until they make a move.
If the Rams can trade Foles, that would be ideal. They could get rid of his cap number as well as possibly gain a draft pick for next year as they traded away top picks in 2017 in the trade to move up to the number one overall pick.
Last season the Rams traded away Sam Bradford and acquired a second round pick. While Foles is a quarterback who has won games in the NFL, it shouldnt be expected for the Rams to get a top pick for Foles. Most likely the Rams could get at the high end a fourth round pick and at the low end a sixth round pick.
When all is said and done, it is very unlikely that Foles makes it to training camp on the Rams’ roster.
