Undrafted Free Agents: Notable Los Angeles Rams Signees
By T.J. Randall

Greg Zurlein struggled last the season, but the Rams retained him on a one year deal because that season doesn’t define Zurlein as a kicker. However, Fisher did mention bringing in another kicker to challenge Zurlein. Bertolet’s size (5’8″ 189 pounds) was a major contributing factor to him being undrafted, but is also more of a kick off specialist than a place kicker. After redshirting in 2011, Bertolet handled lead kicking duties the following season as he struggled, going 13-22; he did, however, convert on three 50+ yard attempts and finish third in the nation with 65 touchbacks. As a junior in 2014, Bertolet notched 40 touchbacks in 78 kickoffs (57.1 percent) and allowed a mere 18.2 yards per return before returning to kicking duties in 2015 where he converted on 22 of 31 (71 percent) and drilled four 50+ yarders.
Bertolet undoubtedly has a big leg but battles accuracy issues on long kicks (5-9 from 50+ last season) which is reminiscent…of Zurlein last season. Thus, he may be relegated to kick off duties if he makes the team.
