Los Angeles Rams Won’t Trade Nick Foles Prior to Training Camp

It looks like Nick Foles will show up for training camp with the Los Angeles Rams after the team failed to find a trade partner.
After moving up in the 2016 NFL Draft to select Jared Goff with the No. 1 pick, one of the most popular topics of the offseason has been whether or not the Los Angeles Rams would trade Nick Foles–who was acquired by the team from the Philadelphia Eagles prior to last season. Unfortunately for the Rams, it doesn’t look like the team is going to find a likely suitor for Foles before training camp.

Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News indicated on Sunday the plan for the Rams is to have Foles show up for training camp for now, but that doesn’t mean something couldn’t happen later on down the road. As of now, Foles has a long-shot of emerging as the starter at quarterback with Case Keenum and Goff in front of him–which is why Los Angeles has been actively looking for a trade partner.
Of course, the “last-second trade” plan Bonsignore is referring to is the possibility of a team finding themselves in an unfortunate situation where they need a quarterback unexpected during training camp due to an injury.
Still, the fact that Los Angeles is unable to find a trade partner to take in Foles really shouldn’t come as a surprise when considering no team wants to bring on a player who signed a two-year, $24.5 million extension prior to the 2015 season. Not to mention that Foles followed up with the extension by throwing just seven touchdown passes in the 11 games he started at quarterback.
