Even if he doesn’t start, Case Keenum could be a key veteran at quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams in 2016.
The quarterback position for the Los Angeles Rams was in desperate need of improvement last season and even if this year’s top pick Jared Goff ends up winning the starting role, Case Keenum could still play a big part in the rookie’s first season.

At first, early signs indicated Goff may sit out his first season and learn as a rookie while Keenum ran the offense, but it appears Jeff Fisher and company may end up taking the opposite approach. As bad as it sounds, Keenum knows that any starting job at quarterback in Los Angeles would only be temporary when considering what the team gave up to the Tennessee Titans so they could move up to No. 1 and select Goff.
In other words–the Rams didn’t give up all of those future draft picks just to have Goff sit on the bench over the next couple of seasons.
After the Nick Foles experiment turned out to be one of the biggest fails of 2015, Keenum ended up starting five games for the Rams last season, but he’s still inexperienced when compared to most quarterbacks in the league. In four seasons, Keenum has only appeared in 16 career games with just 15 touchdown passes–so it’s easy to see why he may end up as the backup behind Goff heading into Week 1 of the 2016 season.

Still, Keenum’s tiny bit of experience still outweighs Goff’s at the NFL level and no matter who ends up as the starter, the veteran will still have plenty to teach the young rookie during his first year.
