The Los Angeles Rams placed their second-year right tackle on the preseason PUP list on Friday.
After an impressive rookie season, the Los Angeles Rams have high expectations for second-year player Rob Havenstein–who started 13 games for the team last year–heading into 2016. Unfortunately, with the team’s training camp officially getting under way, it looks like the offense will have to begin practices without their star right tackle.

Havenstein was placed on the team’s preseason PUP (physically unable to perform) list, but the details surrounding his injury and how serious it may be are still unknown. Hopefully, this is just one of those situations where Havenstein’s injury is minor and Los Angeles is just taking the safe approach heading into training camp.
The fact that Havenstein didn’t allow a single sack as a rookie shows just how special this former Wisconsin star is and the Rams realize just how important he is for their future. After trading up to select Jared Goff at No. 1 in the 2016 NFL Draft, Havenstein along with the rest of the offensive line will play a key role in protecting their new franchise quarterback moving forward.

First things first though–which is Havenstein getting healthy enough to be ready to go for Week 1 in September.
