All signs point to Tre Mason’s time with the Los Angeles Rams coming to an end soon after Jeff Fisher claims he hasn’t heard from the running back.

It’s been an interesting last couple of months for Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason between his disappointing 2015 season and off-the-field-issues–which included an arrest for marijuana possession.

With training camp officially underway, many expected Mason to compete with Benny Cunningham for the No. 2 running back spot behind Todd Gurley. However, it’s going to be tough for Mason to win a spot on the roster when he’s apparently cut off communication with head coach Jeff Fisher.

As if his numerous run-ins with the law over the last few months weren’t already frustrating enough, Mason not being present at training camp is the last thing the Rams want to deal with. Mason’s role with the team was already in jeopardy heading into training camp and the fact that he chosen not to communicate with the team since the end of last season just adds to the list of concerns.

After a disappointing 2015 season in which he averaged just 2.8 yards per carry, Los Angeles realizes parting ways with Mason won’t have a single impact on the team moving forward. Mason may have showed some potential after starting nine of 12 games as a rookie in 2014 and finishing with 765 rushing yards with four touchdowns, but those numbers mean nothing now.

Between Gurley emerging as the team’s No. 1 running back and the potential surrounding Cunningham as a backup, Mason desperately needed training camp to prove he belonged here. Now that reports are coming out that he hasn’t communicated with the team since last season and wasn’t present for the first day of camp, it seems like Mason’s short time with the Rams could be coming to an end.
