Cody Davis vs. Maurice Alexander

Filling the void left by Rodney McLeod certainly won’t be easy, but luckily the Rams have a hand-full of talented safeties who are willing to step up in his absence. Two key players to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks will be Cody Davis and Maurice Alexander as both players will receive plenty of opportunity to show they deserve significant playing time.

Even though he’s never started a game, Davis brings experience to the table as the safety enters his fourth season with the Rams. As for Alexander, the safety is entering his third season with the team and has received nothing but praise from the coaching staff for the work he’s done during OTAs and it will be interesting to see if that success continues throughout camp.

No matter who ends up starting at safety, both players should see additional time on defense between the departure of McLeod and all the off-the-field issues T.J. McDonald has been dealing with.
