E.J. Gaines vs. Coty Sensabaugh

After an impressive rookie season in which he started 15 games at cornerback, expectations were high for E.J. Gaines heading into the 2015 season until a Lisfranc injury forced him to sit out all year. With Janoris Jenkins joining the New York Giants, it would seem like Gaines would be a lock for the No. 2 cornerback spot on the roster.

Unfortunately for Gaines, the starting job at cornerback is anything but a guarantee and he’ll have his hands full with plenty of competition over these next few weeks.

A Lisfranc injury is no joke and Gaines will need to do everything in his power to show the Rams he’s fully healthy from the injury with no setbacks. Not to mention Gaines is well aware that a player like Coty Sensabaugh–who spent the last four seasons with the Tennessee Titans and started 15 games in 2015–is coming off a big season and knows the No. 2 spot is up for grabs.

From Sensabaugh’s perspective, the cornerback knows he may have the advantage over Gaines at this point due to experience and the fact that he’s coming off his best season.
