Head coach Jeff Fisher is heading into the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Rams, but an extension could be coming soon.
There’s been plenty of debate surrounding the Los Angeles Rams and whether they should extend the contract of head coach Jeff Fisher–who is entering the final year of a five-year contract. Now, it looks like a new deal may be in store for Fisher before the regular season gets underway–which would be good for both parties.

Shortly before the start of the team’s first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported a new deal is expected before the regular season not just for Fisher, but General Manager Les Snead as well.
Obviously, there will just as many fans excited about this news as there will be disappointed as the Rams enter their first season in a new city coming off a 7-9 record in 2015. In fact, Fisher has yet to record a winning season with the team during his first four years as head coach, but it’s tough to ignore the progress made from last season.
Los Angeles emerged as one of the league’s most underrated defenses last year as Aaron Donald could find himself in the conversation of Defensive Player of the Year honors after recording two sacks over the last two seasons. The offense may have been a bit shaky at times, but the team made the right decision by parting ways with Nick Foles and trading up to draft No. 1 pick Jared Goff in May.

With all of the potential surrounding the Rams along with the fact this team went 4-2 in the NFC West last season, extending Fisher seems like the best option. Los Angeles has a ton of potential with an improved offense and a rising defense–so they may as well give Fisher more time to at least work with this exciting squad.
