E.J. Gaines

Speaking of Gaines, if there’s any cornerback who benefited from Sensabaugh’s rough debut against the Cowboys–it would be him.

Not only was Gaines dealing with a mild hamstring injury at the beginning of camp, but he missed the entire 2015 with a Lisfranc injury. Now, Gaines is finally ready to play in his first game–even if it is just preseason–since suffering that devastating injury and at this point, the starting job as the No. 2 cornerback is his to lose.

There was already a ton of pressure on Gaines heading into training camp after the cornerback started 15 games a rookie in 2014, but a Lisfranc injury is never easy to recover from. Hopefully, Gaines will show the coaching staff of the Rams there’s no reason for concern over his injuries and he’ll show what he can bring to the table against Kansas City–even if he is restricted to limited playing time.
