Tavon Austin

The picture above is the perfect way to describe Tavon Austin‘s limited performance against the Cowboys as the wideout dropped a key pass in the second quarter that should have easily been a catch.

Los Angeles has been in desperate need of someone to step up in the passing game over the last couple of years when considering the team hasn’t seen a 1,000-yard receiver since Torry Holt in 2007–which is really just sad to think about. Austin is coming off an impressive 2015 campaign after finding the end zone 10 times, but the pressure is on the wideout heading into the regular season since many believe this year could be his big breakout season.

There’s a reason why the Rams were willing to pick up Austin’s fifth-year option in the offseason and the numbers from his senior season (114 receptions for 1,289 yards with 12 touchdowns) at West Virginia shows why he’s capable of breaking the 1,000-yard drought at wide receiver. If Austin can bounce back with a stronger performance against Kansas City, it will at least make the team feel better about their wide receiver situation–even if it’s just good, not great.
