Pharoh Cooper

When it comes to receivers who disappointed in the preseason opener, Pharoh Cooper is right up there with Austin after the rookie failed to record a reception in his debut.

Cooper was targeted twice against the Cowboys and the Rams hope the former South Carolina star is capable of making an immediate impact as a rookie. As mentioned before, the wide receiving corps is nothing to brag about when it comes to Los Angeles, but the team appears to have a wide-open competition at the position behind Austin and Kenny Britt.

Prior to the start of training camp, Cooper was considered a likely option for the No. 3 wideout after catching 17 touchdowns over his final two seasons at South Carolina. However, the preseason opener is the perfect example of how fast Cooper could slip on the depth chart thanks to players like Nelson Spruce–who was the surprise leader at wideout against the Cowboys with six catches for 51 yards with one touchdown.

Then again, with Spruce expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a knee sprain, Saturday’s contest would be the perfect opportunity for Cooper to shine in the passing game.
