Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley Scores Touchdown in Preseason Debut Against Kansas City Chiefs
By Dan Parzych
Second-year running back Todd Gurley wasted no time making an impact for the Los Angeles Rams on offense.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher made the decision in the preseason opener to rest star running back Todd Gurley–who many believe has what it takes to win the rushing title during his season season. Even though he only ended up playing one series during his first career preseason game, Gurley wasted no time showing Rams fans he’s ready to pick up right where he off in his sophomore season.

Fisher made the wise decision of letting Gurley only play the team’s first series against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday and it ended up being a big one after the running back rushed for 20 yards and a two-yard touchdown. After the defense allowed the Chiefs to score a touchdown on the opening drive of the game, Gurley–with the help of wide receiver Kenny Britt–was able to help Los Angeles bounce right back with a touchdown of their own to tie the game.
Gurley turned out to be one of the biggest surprises as a rookie in 2015 after rushing for 1,106 yards with 10 touchdowns in 13 games when considering nobody knew what to expect after he suffered a torn ACL in the middle of his junior season at Georgia. Instead of a setback, Gurley quickly emerged as one of the league’s top running backs and was the lone star of a terrible offense that ranked near the bottom of the league last year.
