Report: Jared Goff May Be Los Angeles Rams No. 3 Quarterback
By Dan Parzych
Despite making progress, it appears Jared Goff may be the No. 3 quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams at this point in the preseason.
After his preseason debut was cut short, Jared Goff received extended playing time for the Los Angeles Rams during their second preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs and even threw his first touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to Malcolm Brown.

Obviously, the extra playing time was a major confidence boost for Goff when considering how shaky he’s been at times in the preseason and while Jeff Fisher has made it clear Case Keenum is the starter at this point, it appears the former California star may not even be the No. 2 quarterback.
Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole discussed on Monday how Goff may be the No. 3 quarterback for the Rams behind Keenum and Sean Mannion. Goff knows the starting job will eventually belong to him after all of the draft picks Los Angeles surrendered to move up in May’s draft, but it appears the team may not even be confident with making the rookie the main backup at this point.
Even though Mannion failed to play in the second preseason game, the quarterback was the main reason why the Rams managed to win against the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason opener after completing 18 of 25 passes for 147 yards with three touchdowns. From a competitive standpoint, making Goff the No. 3 quarterback isn’t the worst idea in the world since Los Angeles is talented enough to compete for the NFC West in 2016 and he’s still a work in progress for running the offense.
