2. Carolina Panthers (1)

Even if it was just a preseason game, it was tough not to try and imagine if this matchup between the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots was a preview of this year’s Super Bowl.

Of course, the Panthers would be hoping for better results after falling to the Patriots 19-17 after Carolina’s offense stayed pretty quiet up until the fourth quarter. Cam Newton struggled a bit after throwing two interceptions on 13 of 29 passing, but it was good to see Devin Funchess targeted 10 times as the team hopes the wideout can make a major impact on offense during his second season.

The Panthers entered this game knowing it wouldn’t be easy to pull off the win, but it would have been nice to see better performances from some of the starters. With that being said, there’s still no reason to worry about Carolina, as Newton and company will enter the season with an extra chip on their shoulder.
