8. Arizona Cardinals (4)
If there’s any team capable of moving up this list fast over the first few weeks of the regular season, it’s the Arizona Cardinals.
After suffering an embarrassing loss to the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship, the Cardinals entered the offseason as one of the early favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl. While there’s no reason to worry just yet, Arizona didn’t do much in the preseason to prove they have what it takes to represent the NFC in this year’s big game.
It took until the preseason finale against the Denver Broncos for the Cardinals to finally start playing significant football and that doesn’t even count since none of the starters were playing in the game. What’s most important is the previous three games in which Arizona looked flat-out awful and let’s hope Carson Palmer gets his act together to help this team reach the high level of playing everyone expects them to be at.
