Nelson Spruce has been ruled out by the Los Angeles Rams for Monday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and the rest of the coaching staff made a bold move by deciding to give wide receiver Nelson Spruce one of the spots on the 53-man roster, despite only appearing in one preseason game. Rams fans are excited to see what type of impact Spruce can make in the passing game, but it looks like the wideout’s regular-season debut is on hold for at least one more week.

Spruce has been officially ruled out for Monday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, which is the last thing Los Angeles needs to deal with. The Rams finished near the bottom of the league in offense last year, and for a team already dealing with a weak receiving corps, there’s even more pressure on Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt to produce in the passing game.

After catching six passes for 51 yards with a touchdown in the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys, it didn’t take Spruce long to win the hearts of Los Angeles fans. Unfortunately, Spruce has been dealing with a knee sprain suffered at the end of that game, but at least it’s good to see the Rams taking the precautionary approach by not rushing the wideout back before he’s ready.
