There were reports at the beginning of preseason regarding the Los Angeles Rams rewarding Jeff Fisher with a contract extension.

When it comes to performances from Week 1 of the 2016 NFL season, the argument can be made the Los Angeles Rams displayed the most embarrassing one after the team was shutout by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

Rams fans have every reason in the world to be frustrated with the way this game turned out when considering all of the excitement from the preseason. While fans didn’t hold back when it comes to expressing their frustrations over head coach Jeff Fisher, it will be even more interesting to hear reactions from these same fans if Los Angeles rewards him with a three-year extension.

There may not be anything set in stone at the moment, but it’s understandable why the team would want to hold off on an announcement if Fisher does in fact have an offer. The head coach currently ranks third all time when it comes to most losses (157, and to top it off, Fisher is entering his fifth year with the Rams without a winning season.

As frustrating as this situation may seem for Los Angeles fans, the one thing that makes sense is the organization wants to give Fisher a chance at developing Jared Goff–who was selected as the No. 1 pick back in April. Offense seemed to be the main factor holding back this team from reaching the next level, but if Monday’s game against the 49ers is any indication, the Rams still need plenty of improvement on that side of the football if they’re going to have any shot at competing in 2016.
