The running back has been ruled out against the Los Angeles Rams with a hamstring injury.

The Los Angeles Rams find themselves in an interesting position heading into their Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when considering they happen to be 1-1 on the season, despite failing to score a single touchdown in two games. With a tough matchup on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it looks like the Rams’ defense will have one less player to worry about  in Doug Martin.

The fifth-year running back is expected to miss the next three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. With his small size, and blazing speed, Martin has always been one of the most difficult running backs to cover in the league, and losing him in the ground game is a major blow to the Buccaneers’ offense.

With Martin out, Charles Sims and Jacquizz Rodgers are expected to receive more carries at running back as Tampa Bay looks to bounce back from an embarrassing loss to Arizona. As much as losing Martin for the next three weeks puts this team at a disadvantage, the Rams realize they still need to be extra cautious with the rest of the weapons on the Buccaneers’ offense.

Jameis Winston may be coming off a rough performance against the Cardinals, but he’s also the type of quarterback capable of single-handedly taking over a game, whether it’s through the air or on the ground. If Los Angeles is going to improve to 2-1 on the season with a win on the road against Tampa Bay, the defense will need to apply the same type of pressure they put on Russell Wilson in Week 2.

Otherwise, Winston is going to have the same type of success as Blaine Gabbert did opening weekend against the Rams’ defense.
