The Los Angeles Rams are reportedly interested in Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll as a possible replacement for Jeff Fisher.

The Los Angeles Rams might be looking within the division for Jeff Fisher’s replacement, as the team is reportedly interested in Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson reports:

"Multiple sources with insight into the earliest stages of the Rams coaching search said there is a monster name that intrigues the power brokers inside the franchise: the Seattle Seahawks’ Pete Carroll."

No. Just no.

Now, I’m not questioning the validity of Robinson’s sources or the Rams’ intention to pursue Carroll, but rather the improbable nature of landing him.

"“Pete makes sense in a lot of ways,” one source said. “There is already a defensive core in place for him to work with. He has deep coaching ties across [the NFL] and knows how to build an offensive staff that can bring along [Goff]. … He’s a California guy at heart and has a track record there with the L.A. fan base [from his time at USC]. He’s also a great, great coach.”"

Would Pete Carroll Really Leave the Seahawks?

Granted, he is a great coach and Rams fans would love to have him, but Carroll is currently under contract through the 2019 season. Sure, he might be a California guy at heart as Robinson’s report states, however it would take a lot for Carroll to pickup and leave for a division rival, while alienating a fanbase that loves him.

The Rams would likely have to send a slew of draft picks as compensation for Carroll’s services, and that’s on top of the astronomical amount of money they’d have to pay him in a contract.

Besides, Carroll has a nice job in Seattle with a great team that is a perennial winner and Super Bowl contender. He already has a ring with the Seahawks and there is absolutely nothing to suggest he wants to change his situation.

Clearly this is going to be a long head coach search for the Rams, filled with tons of rumors that will almost never come to fruition.
