NFL Rumors: Josh McDaniels is Rams’ Top Head Coach Target

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is reportedly the Los Angeles Rams’ top choice to be the next head coach.

A potential favorite has emerged in the Los Angeles Rams’ head coach search, and it is none other than New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

This falls in line with the rumor that the Rams are looking for an offensive-minded head coach, as we reported to you earlier in the day.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman is saying the Rams are focusing on McDaniels, although he is reportedly in no rush to become a head coach:

"The Rams want Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels (get in line, Rams). But, I’m told, McDaniels is in no hurry to become a head coach again. So keep that in mind as you hear his name repeatedly after the season. He is a patient guy and will wait for the perfect opportunity.The Rams are focusing on him, I’m told, because he’s more realistic, and he’s a big enough name to sell in L.A. Plus, he can fix any potential Goff issues, the Rams think.Would McDaniels go to Los Angeles? That’s the unknown."

Is Josh McDaniels a Good Fit?

After his failed head coaching stint with the Denver Broncos, McDaniels became offensive coordinator of the Rams in 2011, but lasted just one season before leaving after head coach Steve Spagnuolo was fired.

Would McDaniels be a good fit? On the surface, yes.

He’s an offensive coach and has led the Patriots to some great seasons. Also, The Rams need someone to develop Jared Goff and improve this horrific excuse for an offense..

However, McDaniels’ success has been with Tom Brady behind center and that fact can’t be ignored.

Other than that, McDaniels hasn’t really done much elsewhere. As a result, he’s a bit overrated in my humble opinion, and that won’t change until he proves he can get it done with a different team.
