Are Los Angeles Rams Planning On Letting Kenny Britt Hit Free Agency?
By Dan Parzych
Kenny Britt has spent the last three years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams and recently became the team’s first 1,000-yard receiver since 2007.
Despite all of the struggles on offense throughout the 2016 season, Kenny Britt was one of the lone bright spots for the Los Angeles Rams after catching 68 passes for 1,002 yards to go along with five touchdowns. On paper, these numbers may not seem that impressive, until realizing Britt was the first Rams player to break the 1,000-yard mark since Torry Holt managed to do so during the 2007 season.

When taking all of this into consideration, rewarding Britt with a new contract would seem like a no brainer for Los Angeles, especially when seeing the lack of talent beyond the eight-year pro wideout. However, it looks like the Rams may be considering the opposite approach with their 1,000-yard wideout due to Jeff Fisher.
After rumors swirled of a possible contract extension, Los Angeles parted ways with their former head coach following an embarrassing Week 14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. In five seasons, Fisher failed to record a winning record even once, so the decision to fire him and start fresh really wasn’t that much of a surprise.
Keep in mind it was Fisher that was responsible for drafting Britt in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft when he was head coach of the Tennessee Titans, which obviously played into the wide receiver’s decision to join the Rams three years ago. Between his relationship with Fisher along with the fact that he’s not getting any younger, letting Britt hit free agency doesn’t seem like the worst idea in the world.
