No Guarantee With Jared Goff

As much as the Rams would love to see everything work out with Jared Goff, there are no guarantees when it comes to players being successful at the NFL level. Even if Goff was highly praised after a successful career at California, his rookie season is the perfect example of how he’s still a work in progress with plenty of areas in need of improvement.

Obviously, the circumstances would have been much different had Los Angeles provided their quarterback with better weapons to work with on offense along with a more reliable offensive line, but hopefully the team addresses those areas in the offseason to benefit Goff. While most quarterbacks tend to receive two or three years to prove themselves, that may not be the case for Goff with the Rams thanks to the surprise success of Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott during their rookie seasons.

When considering how Wentz and Prescott found ways to emerge as leaders during their first seasons, there’s no reason why Goff shouldn’t be able to do the same heading into his sophomore season, especially when seeing how many future draft picks Los Angeles gave up to acquire him. If Goff’s second season doesn’t go according to plan, the Rams may strongly consider other options heading into 2018 at quarterback.
