Even though the Los Angeles Rams won’t be playing in this year’s NFL Hall of Fame game, that didn’t stop Johnny Hekker from chiming in with a hilarious joke about the event in August.

After it was announced that Kurt Warner finally earned a spot in Canton, everybody wondered if the Los Angeles Rams would be one of the two teams to play in the 2017 NFL Hall of Fame game. While the Arizona Cardinals, which happens to be another one of Warner’s former teams, will be facing off against the Dallas Cowboys, that didn’t stop Rams punter Johnny Hekker from cracking one of his jokes on social media.

In case anyone forgot, last year’s Hall of Fame game between the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts was canceled at the last second due to poor field conditions, which basically was the results of a bad paint job. While it was great to see the league focus on player safety instead of just having them play the game, there was still a bit of frustration since this seemed like an issue that could have easily been avoided.

With that being said, it’s safe to say the NFL will everything in their power to make sure the field conditions are ready to go in order to make sure they don’t have a repeat of last year when the Cardinals and Cowboys meet on August 3. But even if the league is taking the extra precautions to make sure nothing happens, that doesn’t mean Arizona and Dallas are thrilled to be playing in an extra preseason game, which is where Hekker’s joke comes into play.

Knowing Hekker, a comment like this shouldn’t really come as a surprise since he’s always been considered the jokester on the team. Don’t forget, Hekker was the one cracking jokes about Los Angeles hiring Matt LaFleur before it became official, as he’s always been great with providing laughs for his teammates and fans.

Not only are the Rams lucky for arguably having the league’s best punter in Hekker, but they should be thankful for having one heck of a comedian as well.
