1. Andrew Whitworth

Along with wide receiver, the offensive line was one of the other areas the Los Angeles Rams needed to improve on during the offseason, and to land one of the top players from this year’s free agency class in Andrew Whitworth was a major surprise. Most players at this stage in their career would never consider going from a talented team like the Cincinnati Bengals to a team that finished 4-12 the year before like the Rams, but Whitworth clearly seems something special in the direction Sean McVay has this team going.

The fact that Todd Gurley failed to record a single 100-yard game in 2016 shows how much of a disappointment the offensive line truly was, but hopefully that will all change with the presence of a veteran like Whitworth. Paying someone the age of Whitworth (turns 36 in December) $36 million over the next three years may seem like a questionable move, but when seeing how awful the offensive line was last year opening holes for Gurley and protecting Jared Goff, it will be worth every penny.

When looking at how Los Angeles surrendered their first-round pick for Goff in this year’s draft, the last thing they want to do is delay the development process of their hopeful franchise quarterback. With three-time Pro Bowler Whitworth leading the way, here’s to hoping Goff can elevate his game to the next level now that he’s got better protection.
