With the 2017 NFL Draft four weeks away, the Los Angeles Rams appear to have interest in Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram.
Give the Los Angeles Rams credit for addressing two of their top needs this offseason with the offensive line (Andrew Whitworth) and wide receiver (Robert Woods) in free agency, but the team still has a long way to go with the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft. For example, the Rams could certainly use another tight end after parting ways with Lance Kendricks, and chances are they won’t add another one to the roster until April’s draft is officially here.
Thanks to the deal made with the Tennessee Titans last offseason to acquire Jared Goff, Los Angeles will have to wait until the second day of the upcoming draft before making their first selection at No. 37. Depending on which players will still be available when the Rams are on the clock, one of the names to keep an eye on could be tight end Evan Engram from Ole Miss.
Nobody should be surprised by Los Angeles showing interest in the tight end along with numerous other teams since he’s considered one of the top tight ends from this year’s draft class. Not only was Engram the fastest tight end at the combine as Chase Goodbread mentioned on Wednesday, but his numbers during his final season at Ole Miss (65 catches for 926 yards with eight touchdowns) in 2016 shows what he would bring to the table for the Rams’ offense.

There’s already plenty of excitement surrounding Tyler Higbee entering his second season with the team, and the addition of another talented pass-catching tight end like Engram in the Los Angeles passing game would make life so much easier for Goff. It’s tough to jump to conclusions based off a simple meeting, but with the Rams still in need of adding another tight end, Engram is one player for fans to keep an eye on over the next couple of weeks.
