3. Dallas Cowboys, Week 4

Playing the NFC East in 2017 is going to be a major test for the Los Angeles Rams when considering each of the four teams in the division seem talented enough to make a strong case for a playoff spot in the conference. After the Rams will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 for their first road battle of the year, the first true test away from home will come the following week when Sean McVay takes on a familiar face in the Dallas Cowboys.

The Rams head coach is quite familiar with his former division rivals from his time spent as offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins. Not to mention Wade Phillips is quite familiar with the Cowboys after spending four seasons as head coach from 2007-10.

Last year, Dallas emerged as one of the biggest surprises after Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott led the team to a 13-3 record during the regular season as rookies. The offensive line may have taken a hit this offseason, but all signs point to the Cowboys being one of the top contenders in the NFC for the second year in a row now that Prescott and Elliott have a year of experience under their belts.

As bad as it sounds, this Week 4 matchup at home against Los Angeles seems like one of those early games that Dallas will look as an extremely favorable game to win on their end when seeing how the two squads compare on paper. But if Aaron Donald and the rest of the Rams’ defense can apply the necessary to pressure on Prescott, Dallas could find themselves on upset alert.
