27. Kansas City Chiefs: Florida LB Jarrad Davis
The Kansas City Chiefs may be coming off an impressive 2016 season in which they were crowned AFC West champions, but Andy Reid knows he has a tough task on his plate heading into next year when seeing the rest of the competition in the division. Defending the AFC West title is going to be no easy task for the Chiefs, and when looking at some of the potential high-powered offenses that could be standing in their way, Kansas City’s defense is going to need to be on top of their game in 2017.
Give the Chiefs credit for putting together some impressive performances last year, especially in the playoffs in which they prevented the Pittsburgh Steelers from scoring a single touchdown, although they still ended up losing the game. There’s no question the offense has a few gaps in need of filling, but those should be addressed in the later rounds with the team looking at linebacker for their late first-round pick.
One name to keep an eye on in this spot is Jarrad Davis out of Florida, as the linebacker seems to be the type of player that could play a key role early on as a rookie. Scouts have praised Davis for his explosiveness on the defensive side of the football, and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be able to continue that success once he’s part of the NFL.
