Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay may be the one game changer that makes winning possible again in LA.

Critics have said much about the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. From free agency to the draft, every NFL watcher has weighed in. But while every move thus far in 2017 gets reviewed and reviewed again, the one that fans will eventually look back on most gratefully is the hiring of Sean McVay.

As a matter of fact, beyond the selection of

Jared Goff

, McVay may be the most transcendent acquisition for the Rams in a decade. And should they win and win often, General Manager

Les Snead

can put to bed a lot of the questionable

everything’s

he’s currently tagged with.

But even more that Goff, Los Angeles needs to get THIS one right.

It’s that important.

Believe it or not, the Rams can likely survive a swing and a miss on their current starting quarterback. If the Goff pick goes belly up this year, it would have only been predictable.

But they need the McVay hire to work and work well. He’ll get a pass on whatever came before as most of everything is on Jeff Fisher. Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley aside, his Rams tenure is abhorrent.

If the current regime can claim some wins via this year’s draft and free agency, and one or two wins above 4-12, the new head coach can claim a fresh start next year at quarterback should he need to.

But if he can manage a makeover with Goff, then the Rams can claim a needed victory in the one area most deficient next to offensive talent: head coaching talent.

Fisher’s best had come and gone, and he likely will be the last to know it.

But the brain trust in LA may have hit on the position more important than any on the field right now. They needed a guy who could move this franchise forward. Not just someone to move the team from Missouri to California.

McVay looks to be that guy.

Better than any head coaching retread, studio, or booth analyst, the new Rams head coach looks to be the tonic this franchise is desperate for.

Well, that and wins.

Most fortuitous for McVay is everyone gets it. No one looks at Los Angeles as a quick fix. Few buy into Goff, and it’s hard to find an NFL talking head who thinks they will be better than last season.

It’s a low bar indeed.

Which is probably the best scenario for the Rams as they get ready for season two in LA.
