Los Angeles Rams GM Les Snead went on the record with Jim Rome and offered a lot of hope and praise for his young head coach, and second year quarterback.

Los Angeles Rams General Manager Les Snead has been very complimentary this week of new head coach Sean McVay. He’s also had many positive comments for second year quarterback Jared Goff.

That’s not breaking news.

In fact, I can’t imagine what else he’d say. He should be all in on both his new head coach, and his still kinda new, but not really quarterback.

Like I said, it’s not breaking news.

Les Snead needs some wins this year. He really does. As much as Goff needs to get his first, Snead may need one just as much. After last season, and after the Jeff Fisher era crashed and burned, it’s hard to imagine a GM who is more anxious and in need of something good to happen.

It also needs to happen sooner rather than later.

While McVay has time to make this “his” team, Snead may be the one guy who needs results in short order.

He NEEDS Goff to payoff, AND he needs to see McVay deliver some positive results in his first season in LA.

As Rams’ GM, it was a little surprising that he survived in a post-Fisher era. But as day one of the offseason stretched into day two, and three, it became clear he’d be part of the transition to a new regime.

That isn’t entirely illogical, and it makes a lot of sense.

But beyond this season, it is hard to gauge what keeps him part of the Rams organization if the progress is slow. Fisher may, or may not be an anomaly for how far a mediocre performance can take you in this organization. And make no bones about it, Snead was as much a part of the Rams failings as anyone. His survival for another day in LA shouldn’t be separated from what has happened. If anyone is deserving of a short leash, it’s him.

In an interview on the Jim Rome Show, Snead spoke with enthusiasm about McVay, and promising of his second year quarterback.

I’d of been shocked if he hadn’t.

Les Snead finds himself in the unenviable position of needing to hit big on his last two high profile picks. Imagine having the deed to your house as your final bet in a high stakes game of 21.

You HAVE to be “all in.”

Snead is, and this time, he needs a win to survive.
